It seems Folkestone is proposing a Festival of Festivals in 2012 and I've emailed to find out if there is anything which Coastal Gardening Society can get involved in.
One of the suggestions I read about was an air show, which would be excellent. I discovered Folkestone because of the air show and standing on the Leas while a Tornado zoomed past inverted, was pretty cool - especially when the reverberations moved up through your body from feet to collar bone !
A pilot once caught me nosing around an unsignposted plane and asked me what I was doing. "It's a Tornado" I told him, "because it has a dirty bum - all the soot around the engine ". The pilot peered at it and told me: " I'd never noticed that before" Duh !
Before I was married I used to zap off to air shows and once spent an afternoon watching planes including a MiG, while drinking Red Stripe under the shade of an F16 with some US pilots...
