Bags For Life in the garden

My mother sees a branch of a supermarket and has to go explore. In France, that's cool but in the UK we seem to have fewer chains and they all look bland to me. Because of the spur of the moment nature of our visits. I have ended up with a large collection of bags for life. Most are jute, but a few seem to be made of the same kind of stuff as weed control fabric. I'm wondering whether the really big ones would be good for winterising standards..
